Day by Day Itinerary

1

Day 1: Cusco – Tarawasi – Tomaccaya – ATV Adventure – Pampaccahuana

We depart Cusco early and head towards Limatambo to explore the intricate stonework of the Tarawasi ruins. We then arrive at the remote village of Tomaccaya for a traditional Andean breakfast. From here, the real adventure begins: a thrilling 2.5-hour ATV ride across rugged, off-road Andean terrain to Tinko (4,154m), where our chef awaits with a hot lunch. In the afternoon, we hike for 3 hours up a steep trail to the Cruzccasa Pass (4,800m), followed by a 3-hour descent to our first campsite at Pampaccahuana (4,000m), located right next to an original, functioning Inca canal. • Trekking Distance: 12 km / 7.5 miles (plus 2.5h ATV) • Estimated Time: 6 hours hiking • Highest Altitude: 4,800m / 15,748ft • Campsite Altitude: 4,000m / 13,123ft

Day 2: Pampaccahuana – Inkachiriaska Pass – Soraypampa

After breakfast with members of the local community, we embark on a 2-hour horseback ride up the valley to Accopampa. We then dismount and hike the final, grueling hour to conquer the towering Inkachiriaska Pass (5,100m) - the highest pass in the entire Salkantay region. Here, right next to the massive, cracking Salkantay glacier, our guide will lead a traditional coca leaf ceremony to thank the Apus. After taking incredible photos, we begin a long 4-hour descent through beautiful mountain plateaus and glacial moraines to our second campsite at Soraypampa (3,900m). • Trekking Distance: 15 km / 9.3 miles (partially on horseback) • Estimated Time: 7-8 hours • Highest Altitude: 5,100m / 16,732ft • Campsite Altitude: 3,900m / 12,795ft

Day 3: Soraypampa – Humantay Lake – Mollepata – Cusco

We wake up early, surrounded by the peaks of Salkantay and Humantay, and begin a steep 2-hour ascent to the majestic Humantay Lake (4,200m). The vivid turquoise waters set against the backdrop of the hanging Humantay glacier are truly breathtaking, especially in the early morning light. After plenty of time for photography and quiet reflection, we descend for 2 hours back to our camp. We then continue hiking down the valley to the bus terminal, where our private transport waits. We drive to Mollepata for our final celebratory lunch before returning to Cusco, dropping you off at your hotel in the late afternoon. • Trekking Distance: 8 km / 5 miles • Estimated Time: 4-5 hours • Highest Altitude: 4,200m / 13,779ft • Cusco Altitude: 3,400m / 11,154ft
