Day by Day Itinerary
Cusco - Layo - Pallay Punchu
Our journey begins early with a pick-up from your hotel between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM. We travel south of Cusco for about 3.5 hours, passing through picturesque Andean valleys until we reach the district of Layo. Here, we stop for an energizing breakfast to prepare for the hike. After breakfast, a short drive takes us to the trailhead (approx. 4,200m). The ascent to Pallay Punchu takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. The trail is steep and the altitude makes it challenging, but the reward at the top (4,700m) is spectacular. You will be greeted by the razor-sharp, colorful ridges of Pallay Punchu and a breathtaking view of the massive Langui-Layo lagoon below. After exploring the ridges and taking incredible photos, we descend for about 1.5 hours back to the transport.
