1 Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu - 1D

Our express adventure begins at 4:00 am. We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and drive to the train station in Ollantaytambo. We board the Expedition train and ride to Kilometer 104, where we disembark to begin the trek. After passing the checkpoint, we visit the beautiful Chachabamba ruins. We then start a 3-hour hike up original Inca stone steps to the spectacular Wiñay Wayna ruins, where we enjoy a well-deserved picnic lunch by a waterfall. We continue our hike through the lush cloud forest to Inti Punku (the Sun Gate). From here, you'll experience your first breathtaking, panoramic view of the Machu Picchu citadel in the soft afternoon light. We hike down into the citadel and explore Circuit 1 to take the classic postcard photos from the upper terraces. Finally, we take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, catch the evening train back to Ollantaytambo, and transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco, arriving around 9:30 pm. • Trekking Distance: 13 km / 8 miles • Estimated Time: 6 hours • Highest Altitude: 2,730m / 8,956ft
